Designed specifically for railway work sites requiring a secondary safety system, the solution provides a reliable detection method using long range RF communications.
The Salcom worksite protection system is a microprocessor controlled transceiver that communicates to units further along down the rail tracks at the work area.
A sensor is connected to the tracks at a distance before the work area where track repairs or maintenance are being carried out.
When a train passes the track sensor the system can activate any number of predetermined events at the worksite.
These may include loud sirens, flashing lights, message pagers, relay activations and it can also seize a radio channel and broadcast a pre-determined audio message to the work team at the site or to the train driver.
Audio Warning:
One unique feature of this system is that the central unit can seize a radio channel and broadcast a pre-recorded audio warning message to hand held radios.
The aim of the system is to make the site safe by warning onsite workers of any unauthorised vehicles entering the site which can be done in various ways.
It is crucial that the train detection system be dependable and that the radio links be very reliable.
If the worksite is large an optional repeater can be used to increase the range of the system.
Each individual worksite may have different requirements according to factors like the terrain, the number of people working there, visibility of the site entrance etc.
The modular design provides the user with the flexibility to provide the best protection for the site.
All components are available separately and integrate with each other easily.
The system can be expanded or reduced according to changing needs.
Designed to be reliable and dependable in harsh conditions.
Simple to set up and user friendly.
